Memphis is a big healthcare city with several large hospital systems, and that changes how people should shop for insurance. Whether you live in Memphis, Germantown or Collierville, or anywhere else in Shelby County, the right plan depends heavily on which system your doctors belong to. We’re an independent agency in Cookeville, and we help West Tennessee clients with Medicare, life insurance, final expense, annuities and ancillary plans by phone or video.
Talk With Us About Your Memphis CoverageBig Hospital Systems, Different Networks
Many Memphis-area residents get care through large systems such as Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Baptist Memorial Health Care and Regional One Health. Those systems don’t all participate in the same plans, and a doctor in one can be out of network on a plan that includes another. Before you choose a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan, we check your hospital, your primary doctor and your specialists against the plan’s network and your medications against its drug list.
Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are offered county by county, so Shelby County options can differ from those in neighboring counties. Our Medicare plans in Tennessee page covers the basic parts of Medicare if you’d like background first.
Leaving a Job and Employer Coverage
Many Memphis-area clients are leaving a large employer and wondering how their group health plan fits with Medicare. The answer depends on the size of the employer and the type of coverage, so ask your benefits office before you drop anything, then call us with what they tell you. Missing an enrollment window can mean a late penalty or a gap, and we’d rather help you avoid both.
Life Insurance for Working Families
If you’re still working and raising a family, life insurance is about replacing income and covering a mortgage or other debts. We explain term and permanent policies and help you pick an amount that fits your situation instead of a number from a rule of thumb. For older clients who just want to cover funeral costs, a final expense policy is the simpler tool.
The Gaps Medicare Doesn’t Fill
Original Medicare leaves out most routine dental, vision and hearing care. Ancillary plans can cover part of that, and we’ll help you see whether the premium makes sense for how often you actually use those services. If retirement income is on your mind, our pages on annuities and Social Security timing are a good next read.
How We Work With West Tennessee Clients
We don’t have a Memphis office. Cookeville is on the other side of the state, so we do our work with Memphis clients by phone and video, which most people prefer anyway. Call 931.316.1182 on a weekday and we’ll set a time. The consultation is free, and the carriers pay us, not you.
Call 931.316.1182 or Request a TimeWe work with clients in Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett and Cordova, along with neighbors in Arlington and Millington. Questions We Hear From Shelby County
My doctor is part of a big Memphis hospital system. How do I know a plan includes them?
We check the plan’s provider directory for each doctor and facility you name, and we tell you which ones we couldn’t confirm.
I’m retiring from a large employer. When should I enroll in Medicare?
It depends on your employer’s size and coverage. Ask your benefits office, then call us and we’ll help you time Medicare so you avoid gaps or penalties.
Can I do all of this without driving anywhere?
Yes. Phone and video work for nearly everything, and we explain what we need from you each step of the way.
What’s the difference between term and permanent life insurance?
Term covers a set number of years at a lower cost. Permanent coverage lasts for life and can build cash value. We help you weigh which one fits your goals.
Does Medicare cover dental and vision?
Original Medicare generally doesn’t cover routine dental or vision care. Some plans add benefits, and separate ancillary plans can fill part of the gap.
We do not offer every plan available in your area. You can always contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for help with plan choices.
